NEW GALLERY REPRESENTATION - S. R. BRENNEN GALLERY IN PALM DESERT, CA

------------

From his studio in Monument, Colorado, Richard Pankratz produces sculpture that is beautiful to behold and a profound inspiration.  Using combinations of cast bronze, fabricated bronze, and clay, Pankratz harvests a unique expression of his deepest feelings, his spirituality, and social comment.  On the marriage of bronze and porcelain, Pankratz notes that the two materials are not only complementary, but they redefine each other.  Where porcelain (clay) has weaknesses, bronze has strengths, and vice versa.  A cast bronze sculpture begins as a clay model and thus owes its expressive potential to the ceramic artist and the unique qualities of clay.  In combination, at least in the way Richard Pankratz uses them, the esthetic qualities of the fired clay and glazes are in perfect harmony with the bronze patina.  Likewise, the bronze artist in Pankratz can extend the expressive potential of the porcelain because the forms used are not exclusively limited to only those that can survive as fired clay.

Pankratz' artistic journey has taken him from a foundation in design from the Kansas City Art Institute through Art Degrees and a long career as a full time producing artist.  This unique sculptor from the Pikes Peak area near Colorado Springs, Colorado, has participated in the Loveland, Colorado, Sculpture in the Park annual juried show for ten years and has work in many corporate and private collections.  The varied artistic output of Richard Pankratz can be seen coast to coast in prestigious Galleries in Charleston, South Carolina; Park City, Utah; and Sedona, Arizona
